Stonewall Tell ES received authorization to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) in June of 2022.

The PYP offers an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum framework that builds conceptual understanding. It is a student-centered approach to education for children aged 3-12. It reflects the best of educational research, thought leadership and experience derived from IB World Schools.

The PYP is an example of best educational practice globally, responding to the challenges and opportunities facing young students in our rapidly changing world. The PYP curriculum framework begins with the premise that students are agents of their own learning and partners in the learning process. It prioritizes people and their relationships to build a strong learning community. Stonewall Tell ES is proud to join as the 37 elementary school in the state of Georgia to achieve IB authorization.

The IB Primary Years Programmes (PYP) is of great importance at Stonewall Tell. Here is why. First, we started our journey in 2017-2018, we completed the International Baccalaureate feasibility study, candidacy application, and was accepted as an IB Primary Years Program Candidate School. We are honored to offer this prestigious program to the students of Stonewall Tell. Second, since receiving candidacy status, teachers have collaboratively worked together taking the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and IB requirements creating units of inquiry for each grade level. Third, at the heart of IB PYP philosophy is the commitment to developing each student to be an inquirer both within the classroom and in the world at large.
